Our Process

1. Site Preparation

  • Clearing the Land: Remove any vegetation, debris, or obstacles from the site.

  • Excavation: Dig the area where the foundation will be placed. The depth and size of the excavation depend on the type of foundation (e.g., slab, crawl space, or basement).

2. Soil Testing and Evaluation

  • Soil Analysis: Conduct tests to determine the soil’s stability, load-bearing capacity, and drainage properties. This helps in choosing the appropriate type of foundation.

  • Compaction: Ensure the soil is compacted properly to prevent future settling.

3. Formwork Setup

  • Building the Forms: Construct wooden or metal forms to shape the concrete as it’s poured. These forms will create the foundation’s perimeter and determine its final shape.

4. Reinforcement Installation

  • Steel Reinforcement (Rebar): Install steel rebar or wire mesh within the formwork to provide strength and prevent cracking. This is critical in concrete foundations to resist tension forces.

  • Anchor Bolts: For slab foundations, anchor bolts may be embedded to secure the structure to the foundation.

5. Pouring the Concrete

  • Mixing and Delivery: Concrete is mixed and then delivered to the site. Depending on the project size, this can either be done with a concrete truck or by hand.

  • Pouring: The concrete is poured into the formwork, filling the entire space. It’s important to pour the concrete evenly and ensure it fills all gaps and corners.

6. Leveling and Smoothing

  • Spreading the Concrete: Workers spread the concrete to level it out and ensure a smooth surface.

  • Vibrating: To remove air pockets and ensure even distribution, the concrete may be vibrated.

7. Curing the Concrete

  • Allowing the Concrete to Set: Concrete needs time to harden and cure. During this period (usually 7 to 28 days), the concrete should be kept moist to prevent cracking and ensure it reaches its full strength.

  • Curing Methods: This may involve applying a curing compound, covering the surface with wet burlap or plastic sheets, or spraying the concrete with water regularly.

8. Form Removal and Inspection

  • Removing the Forms: Once the concrete has set and cured, the forms are carefully removed.

  • Inspection: A final inspection is performed to ensure the foundation is level, stable, and free of defects. This is also when any necessary touch-ups or corrections are made.

9. Foundation Backfilling

  • Backfilling the Excavation: Once the foundation is set and inspected, the area around the foundation is backfilled with soil to level the ground and ensure proper drainage.

10. Final Inspection and Settlement Period

  • Final Check: Ensure the foundation complies with local building codes and regulations. The structure is then ready for the framing and other construction stages.

  • Settlement Period: Over the following months, the concrete may settle slightly, which is normal. However, it should not shift significantly or cause any damage.
